Since DreamWidth looks so much like LiveJournal did, you'd think I'd be fine, but Tumblr was soo simple that it's hard to get back into this kind of interface. So up front -- I have no idea what I'm doing.

I got on LJ right after the first Sherlock fanboard I found crashed and didn't come back up. So maybe 2011? I found many other fandoms that I didn't come for. I enjoyed getting introduced to Stony fic that was more based on the comics (that I had not read) than the mcu. I had some authors that I loved, and that I found again on AO3, and some that I loved that I didn't find again.

Oddly enough, a big fandom site for me for a while was the Ravelry (yes, the yarn website) 221b group. I'm still there and a mod in fact, but it's not quite the same. To me, the height of the fun was after Series 1, with us waiting Series 2. "Setlock" and Tumblr together were quite a combination. Between Series 2 and 3 was still pretty good, and there were still folks discovering the fandom. The cool thing about Ravelry was that one of the group owners is from ATL, and there was a strong cluster of friends who actually knew each other and could meet. Not my city, but not too far away for me for me to make a day trip. Throw in the 221B Con in ATL, and that was (and still is) an important community for me.

Sherlock was my first "new" fandom, meaning I was there at the beginning. Sherlock on Tumblr was so much fun. So was the Hobbit and all the premier pics there.

Being 50, I have seen many a fandom. I started watching Star Trek TOS in syndication as a kid in the 70s. I also saw Doctor Who and Blake's 7 on my PBS station. I listened to the radio version of Hitchhiker's Guide on my public radio station. In the 80s, I managed to find a tiny Blake's 7 Con and go to one of the big Trek cons.

Currently, I'm enjoying vicarious fandom. I know Merlin and SPN almost entirely from meta, fan fic and gif posts. But I'm going to make time to watch --eventually. With SPN it's just a bit hard catching up w/14 years!!

I love the MCU, and I'm a big Stucky fan. My opinion is that the Marvel comics tend to be Stony, and the MCU is Stucky.

Oh, and can't forget The Good Place.

Ships in general: basically if Martin Freeman is in a fandom, I'm going with a ship of his character -- so Bagginshield, Johnlock, even that Kharthur crack stuff (Bless the 4 people who were big in creating that BTW, especially Reapersun for the comics).

So, I'm a bit fuzzy on how content is going to happen in this place, but there you go.
